Our country has only two seasons: During summer time, the
temperatures reach 34°C in the lowlands such as beaches,
plains and will get 32°C in Capital City of San José and
its suburbs. At this time of the year, December, January,
February, March, April and part of May we recommend you
to bring light clothes, sun screen, photo camera, etc. This
season is well marked for the influence of tourists from
all over the world, were the culture mix becomes a daily
topic. .
For
the next 9 months, it is mostly rainy season, but this do
not means that is better traveling during summer time, in
fact; all the country becomes green, the mountains color
a life showered by the rain, sunsets are a picturesque colorful
games and the beaches are still as sunny and warm as in
the last months. It is a good idea to bring light jackets
cause the temperatures never get lowest in comparing to
summer. Even thought, there are places where a sweater is
welcome, like when visiting The Poas or Irazu Volcanoes
because of their location is in the highest mountains of
the territory and cold winds give you chilly feeling.
Every
landscape, mountain, beach or forest has its own life cycle.
It is why, no matter what time of the year you are planning
to travel; we can guarantee you an exiting trip full of
adventure, tranquility and most of all; a culture working
in the nature conservancy.
Arriving
to the airport:
Since
the first time you land at The Juan Santamaria Airport,
you will find a kind and friendly welcome. At the international
exit there are taxi drivers (non officials are called Piratas)
which will offer you not only transportation but all the
imaginable services in Costa Rica.. You must be careful
with "Piratas" (pirates) and try to book your transportation
before getting to the country. All Costa Rica Destinations
offers free transfer to your choice of any hotel.
If
you plan to rent a car:
Road
system is not in good condition, specially before summer
season because all the rain destroys most of the secondary
roads in rural areas out of San Jose. At summer it is not
necessary to have a 4WD to battle with mud but you must
be aware that this type of vehicles are higher and powerful
than regular cars.
Most of the roads have pathholes problems, even in the main
cities, that is why a 4WD is a vehicle that gives you more
stability and capacity to stand rude road conditions. Mostly,
all car rental companies offer vehicles in all range of
cars and rates, which makes a very wide offer . If you are
being a week in Costa Rica count on what type of vehicles
and insurance are included.
